Marblehead police warn that there has been another uptick in the number of residents reporting getting scam phone calls claiming to be the IRS. The scams, which have been circulating for more than a year, are continuing and residents should be aware this is happening, that despite what you see on your Caller ID they can be altered and it may not, in fact, be the IRS calling and threatening you.

The Paso Robles Police Department is warning the public about a recent phone scam which victimized a local resident. This scam, known as the ‘IRS phone scam,' preys on victims by intimidating them into believing they owe taxes or face fines/imprisonment for failure to pay these taxes. In this case, the scammer is also claiming to be an officer or detective from the PRPD in order to further intimidate the victim.
