The caller identifies himself as "Rick from Microsoft," according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. "Rick" says the software on the resident's computer is out of date and needs to be replaced. To do so, the resident is told to purchase iTunes gift cards and provide the codes to "Rick."
