Why you are getting so many unwanted calls

Most legitimate companies will not call you if your phone number is on the Do Not Call Registry. However, scammers do not adhere to this rule and will relentlessly call as many phone numbers as possible. Current technology also makes it easy for them to “spoof” or fake the caller ID.

The best practice is to simply Not Answer calls from numbers you do not recognize and let it go to voicemail. Although that may not be practical for some, legitimate callers will usually leave a message and you can return those specific calls. You can read more here from the FTC.

They called and said they were from RBC and wanted to figure out who i was, though they knew some of our names. Looks fishy to me. When i called back, the machine said i called RBC.

calls twice a day for past 10 days - haven't answered - no voicemail left.

Has been calling once or twice a day without leaving a message for just over a week now. I have not answered the calls.

Said they were From RBC and wanted to give me a free credit report. Very nice girl on the phone so it sounded legit. I knew it was a scam so be aware she sounds professional.your bank will never call you to give you a free credit report.

getting daily calls from this number and no-one is on the other end

This is fraud, want to give us our free credit score, claim they are with our bank, but must give permission to access our credit info, very pushy, just hang up. Banks wud not phone for this, they can get credit info themselves if necessary. Besides when I checked the phone # their address was Vancouver, Barbados. Do not say yes because u are giving them permission to access ur credit info

They knew my name and asked me if they were speaking to "my name". When I said speaking, they told me they were with a local bank and gave me the name of the bank and then they hung up.

If you continue to receive unwanted phone calls after your number has been registered with the Do Not Call Registry for 31 days, you may file a complaint with the FTC.
